A highly motivated and award winning artist, Julia paints straight from the heart, vibrantly capturing the beauty
that surrounds her, from the bush to the beach. Exploring concepts of love and life's journey is also a keen fascination, for which
she employs nature's symbols metaphorically, including the Tree of Life, flowers, insects, birds, water and the sun and moon
Intrigued by serendipity and fate, Julia is in awe of the coastal idyllic lifestyle and how she is fortunate enough to be a part. Challenges of life,
individual growth and potential and achieving dreams are important themes in her work.
To express this intense passion for life, Julia is continually experimenting with new techniques and media. On occasion she paints traditionally
with brushes, but often in a looser, more vigorous contemporary style with fingers, sticks and knives, enjoying the thick buttery texture and luscious
colours, layering textures and glazes and metallic embellishment to produce vibrant and decorative effects.
Sometimes Julia chooses to collage items in her work, such as photos, leaf skeletons, sheet music and text with poems written to explore ideas further. She
allows the painting to unfold and lead the way, being sensitive to each step, being open to the end result.
In a similar way the viewer is also taken on a journey, around the painting, making discoveries along the way, which in turn provoke thought and give inspiration.
Julia's work delights the spirit and conveys the abundant happiness that life can bring.
